Now those are pretty. I love the illustrations, and the endpapers are very classy. And the covers are matched, right? Except for maybe a title on the spine or another difference there?

My ship and Somali crew captured the ship and I have your precious books. I will begin throwing one an hour into the sea for as long as it takes you all to acquire and deliver the reasonable ransom payment beyond a reasonable time. One of Sadlark’s scales for each book. Maybe two books for a particularly pretty one.
I expect from earnest work of day long searches in the depths of mud pits to produce on average one scale a day per person, and with one day delay for overnight delivery to my agent at Regional airport nearest Somalia, to receive one scale per set of books a day starting in 48 hours. I will delay my threat as long as this expectation is met.

The spine is printed in gold. Over half at the top consists of “THE COMPLETE / JACK VANCE” in 2 lines, fully justified both fore and aft, which necessitates larger font for “JACK VANCE.”
From my VIE Graphics Volume it appears to be Amiante Title. Sizes are about 12mm and 14mm; Joel could say how many points those are.

Then below there is a Roman numeral for the Volume number, and below that is Bob’s Afton House logo.

And if I am to be regarded as impartial, “*drool*” is töff’s line in terms of precedence and frequency of usage.

        Prego.

Nice creative post on being a Somali pirate. The dwarf song in The Hobbit comes to mind (Smash the cups and break the plates; that’s what Bilbo Baggins hates.)

Heard today a movie on it might be coming out, directed by Peter Jackson after all.
