Bookblocks are printed, and at the bindery for attachment to endpapers. Covers are printed. Binding comes next. With that and packaging, my printer says that she will ship to me by May 1. You will have books in hand by the end of May no matter where you are on the planet.
Someone was asking what the printing equipment was. It’s a Xerox IGEN 3.

Hi Bob. I have a couple of questions: First, appx. how many pages will each vol. contain? and will the paper be super thin compared to mass market hardcovers? Doesn’t matter either way, but I am curious.

The books each contain somewhat less than 1000 pages. The paper isn’t super thin at all… the web site has the paper specification. It is slightly lighter than the paper used in the first VIE.
My first thought (about 2 years ago!) was to print everything in a single large volume, about 9″ by 12″, on what’s called “onion skin” or “bible” paper. Two problems: the font would have been very small, and there would be a real possibility of print-through. Oh, on top of that, the modern printer don’t handle bible paper very well… there would be greatly increased bolloxed up pages. So first, it went to 5 more reasonable size volumes, and then six slightly smaller, for shipping purposes. Soon, soon… we’ll see how my choices play out.

Nightmare last night! Got my CVIE. The paper was ivory 20# bond, all the printing was crooked as a mule’s leg, and the margins were … well, the text wasn’t exactly cut off, but it was right at the outside edge of the pages. Ugh.
